Mourning for Mommy -- NOT!

Louis gave me permission to write on his blog, but he doesn't know what I'm going to say...

If I ever needed proof of the dachshunds' fickle nature, I've seen it over the last couple of weeks. After Fake Mommy's visit and subsequent return to Kabul, I was really worried Louis would experience depression. Hah. Not only was he happy to be back, but he seems utterly unaffected by the trauma of Mommy leaving him again.

Gretchen, of course, doesn't care where she is or whom she's living with, as long as she has access to the squirrel-ridden, water-monster-lurking back yard and can bark at the old kitty at night.

And Amy ... well, Amy is the same, as always.

We all hope Mommy arrived safely in Afghanistan!

  1. Hello Precious Pups!

Happy to hear everyone is doing well. Mama arrived safely back in Afghanistan bright and early a week ago Thursday morning after a really loooong trip. It's been a beehive of activity ever since.

Mama sure enjoyed visiting with her pups and sneaking you doxies into the fancy Westin hotel. Just like ol' times. Going into places where pups aren't quite allowed (even tho the concierge bragged that they are the only dog-friendly hotel in Long Beach). She can't begin to tell you how much she misses all of you.

Our house in Albuquerque sold this past week, and Mama found a new home here in Kabul that very day. It's really nice, with a big garden out front and gigantic kitchen. She also found out that it IS possible to bring small pets here to Afghanistan. Her friends Mark & Oke brought their two Persian kitties all the way from Canada. Yep. Stay tuned on that one kids.

It's really hot during the day here in Kabul. Dusty and windy afternoons, too.

Borys, the landlord's dog, lives in the garden out front. He growls a long time when we arrive home at night, even though he knows everyone. Borys is very sweet. Being an Afghanistan dog, he's totally matted and has fleas. Mama got bitten a bunch so I had to sprinkle flea powder all over the bed and carpet. Yuck.

Anywho, Mama stays busy with her various social activities, job search, publications, and yet another (final!) relocation effort.

Did I say that I miss you? Yeah. Sending all my love to my precious babies, Mama xoxo
